Newbie, lol. Ive been shooting these things as long as North west Texas has had them. My first hog kill was with a recurve bow back in the 80s

. Yea, you need to give it a try, lots of fun.
I had to post this story because Ive never had an animal run that far with both lungs gone and the top of the heart with a hole in it. Ive tracked these guys for about the same distance, but it was with a single lung shot, never a double lunger.
North Texas,
That is what I do with a rifle, but an arrow will not penetrate their thick skulls. OR I assume. I am pulling 72lbs with most of my compounds, and even at that, I dont trust the arrows penetrating all that well. Ive done many euro mounts on these guys and they have the thickest skull of any animal ive seen. Only one thicker is a bear mount I helped a guy do. Here is a pic of one of these guys skulls I did a while back. Its hard to tell in pics, but believe me, its thicker than it appears. It takes much longer to bleach a hogs skull than just about any other animal.
Sorry ma, no pics. It was hot so I had to get it quartered and on Ice pertty quick.
