I would suggest taking him in and letting him shoot a few bows in your price range.

I'm sure he'll be happy to get whatever you purchase him on your own, but I think not only will he be more satisfied with a bow that is fitted exactly for him, but he'll enjoy being a part of the process of picking the bow out.
