Initiation into the Mathews Brotherhood?
It's official. I'm going over to the dark side. After much deliberation, I ordered my Legacy today! Who do I talk to about learning the secret handshake and getting my asbestos suit to protect me from all the anti-Mathews flames?
It should be here in about a week. Of course, then it's going to get boxed up and I won't get to see it until Christmas. My wife is determined to be the one to go pick it up so I won't even see my actual bow until I unwrap it. I'm trying to convince her that I need to be there for the shop to set it up correctly, but she's not listening to me. Anyway, here's the setup:

[*]Mathews Legacy, 28.5" draw, 60-70lbs set at 60 (I'm still building back up from that bad bone break in my hand) [*]Softloc 5-arrow Quiver in Realtree X-tra Grey (gotta be stylish and match the bow)[*]Whisker Biscuit rest (until the Muzzy Zero Effect for Legacy/Icon bows comes out in late January)[*]Cobra Brite Eye fiber pin sight (clearance at Wal-Mart to get me through until all the new models come out in late Jan/early Feb and I can pick a good one)[*]No-peep (blem model direct from Timberline)[/list]
For arrows, I'm probably going with the Blackhawk Vapor camos with 4" vanes and Muzzy 125-grain 3-blade broadheads for hunting. Considering how long it is until hunting season next year and how many arrows I'll probably end up destroying between now and then, I might go with a dozen or two cheaper arrows now and get the ones for hunting later. I'm still in the midst of the learning curve on the whole "arrow spine" equation thing, so I'm mostly relying on the charts made by the arrow manufacturers for reference right now. The shops around here seem to be pretty well experienced, but aren't really into the latest technology, so they generally only stock one or two carbon arrow shafts and just sell those to everyone no matter what their arrow weight or bow pull weights are. I'm hoping to be back up to 70lbs comfortably well before hunting season, so that means I'll have to be shooting an arrow weighing at least 420 grains by WA regs. That's a pretty hefty arrow in a carbon, and not many folks around Seattle here have been able to help me build up a correctly spined arrow that can meet that weight. I would like to practice with the same weight arrow that I'll be hunting with, so if anyone wants to give me some advice on which arrows and what fletching to choose, I'd appreciate it.
I'm probably going to wait about putting the No-peep on it until I get a little more comfortable with the bow. I'll have lots of questions for you guys then, I'm sure. I've read everything on here about the No-peep, and I'm convinced that it will be worth using even if it's a bit of a PITA for me to get adjusted correctly at first. I utterly despise peep sights on a bow and was going to just shoot without one using a kisser button, but I like the idea of the No-peep much better. We'll have to see how it goes once I actually start trying to use the thing, though.
Thanks for the help on choosing a quiver, and for the arrow info.
