How far did you track this deer total before you got yelled at? To me it doesnt sound as if you made a killing shot. It shouldnt have went that far on a killing shot. Sounds like you mave hit a leg. Deer will bleed profusley when hit in the leg, I hit one with my bow a few years ago that I tracked for 2 days and had a hell of a blodd trail. Come to find out I jumped the doe and saw that I hit it in the leg. Opening day of gun season that year she was dead, by my cousins bullet.
