I could have. One morning I was "stalking" in with my climber on my back, sort of still hunting down the trail when sure enough I heard a noise. I froze and a few moments later a spike stepped out into the clear. I shot him at 20 yards.

After he took off, I quietly put down my bow, shed my climber, picked the bow back up and took a single step when out from the other side of the path just 5 yards further walks this HUGE 10 pointer. He came out intent on the commotion the spike caused but I was still walking and caught his attention. Had I been standing still, I could have probably taken him.

He looked at me, snorted and ran down the path out of my life.
