That's about what I did. In this case the thick stuff was a lot of sappling trees and briars. It was an area that had been clear cut sometime ago with a very defined line between the new growth and the old growth. None of the new growth had trees big enough to climb. I set up within ten yards of the line overlooking the new growth. It has a well defined hiking trail running through it. My spot gave me the opportunity to watch down the trail as well as into the thick stuff. This deer came up parallel to the hiking trail from the thickets.
