I don't believe his friends said he purchased a bad rifle, just that he paid too much money for it is all. At least that is what I got out of it.
You purchased one gun out of 10's of thousands and it was deffective, what a shock from a mass produced low priced item. I supose because you got one bad one they are all crap. Just don't tell the thousands of happy customers about it and ruin thier dreams. I don't know of a gun maker around that hasn't put out a bad gun or two, or hundred.
Mine shoots great as does any one else I know of that owns one. And it's my third savage I have owned. Never had a problem with any of them. Where as I have had three remingtons that were not that hot. I guess that means remington makes bad guns? How do they stay in business I wonder?
In the five years I have been visiting shooting related web sites you are only the second person I have seen have a serious problem with a savage 17HMR. That seems like a pretty good track record to me.
Just my opinion anyway.
