RE: in need of a shotgun
Man, I completely understand that forum rules are forum rules....I honestly wasn't even aware that such a rule existed but also understand why it would be. There's no point in have 300 posts that are all asking the same 3 or 4 questions. I don't know where your other post was/is. But if you make a post in a forum and give it a day or two without response don't hesitate to post that question in a different forum. Perhaps post it somewhere give it some time. Delete it. Then ask somewhere else idunno. I just don't want people to be afraid to ask questions on here...that why this place here.
That being said,
It sounds like you definately want to get a gas-operated semi-auto. Say away from the ultralight 20gauges...as the lighter the gun the heavier the recoil. Definately also look into these new ultra-soft black-rubber recoil pads (like the simm's mentioned...remington also markets an "R3" pad which is pretty much the same thing). You may also look/ask about which guns in the shop are "overbored"...as many think this reduced recoil (overbored just means that the barrel is slightly bigger than normal for the gauge...it has no ill-effect on the gun's performance)
Lastly, and the hardest is GET A SHOTGUN THAT FITS!!! I have a SxS that doesn't fit me all...and I can tell 'cause it'll woop the snot out of me after 50 rounds of target shells while I can shoot my 870 all day long with squirrel loads.
