I agree with Uncle Matt, deer can usually clot their wounds, when they are not hit in the vitals, rather quickly. They can chew, lick, etc. causing them to heal. Did you ever find the arrow?Just to be safe I think I would do a grid search from the area of last blood found. I believe you said there were drops before you lost the trail. Try doing a grid search out from there. Good luck.
