Default RE: Opening Day Buck/Turkey

cayugad,
I was shooting 100 gr pyrodex with a 245 gr powerbelt. I got full expansion and it stayed in the deer's off shoulder. I'm not sure of the brand of cap I had trouble with, it had a copper foil, I had a mixed group of them in my loader. I'll have to look at my tins to see which is which. I think it was due to age as someone gave me there caps when they switched to the large primers. I'll be tossing the rest, that's for sure.

As far as the damage to the turkey, I hit him in the lower left breast, which makes me think I actually hit a turkey BEHIND the one I was aiming at since my shot is a little high at that distance and I held on his head. I ended up filleting the breast and frying it southern fried chicken style (it was excellent BTW). If you actually hit them in the head it leaves everything intact. BTW, it's legal to fall turkey hunt in VA.
