I use barnes cr-10 and sweets 7.62 to remove copper.Both are more aggressive than the birchwood casey product,and neither has caused any damage to any of my barrels.

Ammonia can damage a barrel if left for extended periods but if you run a few dry patchs then followa saturated patch with light gun oil you'll be good. I use a for caliber jag and bore brush(when required). Stoney point bore guide and dewey coated 1 piece rod.
Forgot to mention if/when planning on firing/using the rifle make sure to run a dry patch down the bore to remove any excess oil.
