I am looking to get avarmint rifle and was wondering this simple question. Is there any (dis)advantage to either cartridge? I know that the 243 win is a more prevalent and popular round, but the 6mm rem seems to just be an answer and competition in the bore market.
Also, I don’t want a 22 cal because, other then my rim fires, I want to be able to use all my guns for deer. The 22-250'sand 223's don’t appeal to me. Thanks in advance!
Other than the distinct lack of factory offerings for the 6mm rem it does outperform the .243 by a slight margin and shoots flatter than the .243 with an equal weight bullet.
The Hornady Light Magnum load for the 6mm Rem is a real gem as well. It blows the .243 Light Magnum loads out of the water.

I'd defintely go with it.
I will be reloading for whatever caliberI decide on. I was really thinking the 6mm was a better cartridge and the rifle I'm looking at (
http://www.impactguns.com/store/SS-97493.html) is offered in both. Plus, the caliber says 'remington' if that really means anything. I'll look in to it some more!
