Washtenaw Co. 8-point
Finally after seeing absolutly zero shooter bucks this year I finally found one Nov. 2. Just 2 hours after settling into my treestand at 3, this big guy
shows up chasing a group of 4 does 45 yards down wind of me.... as soon as they entered my windstream they busted taking this big 8 with them. Disappointed I left my stand that night early to make take a shopping trip to Cabelas to buy a new treestand to put up that would make the direct westerly winds work in my favor.
Next morning on the third I didnt expect to see much and was concentrated more on what tree i should hang my new purchase in. Just as light began to filter through the trees the woods became alive with smaller bucks pushing does around my stand. One basket racked 7-point pushed a young doe right underneath my tree, trying to mount her whole time. Then the all of a sudden that little 7 tensed up and nervously turned and trotted away from the doe and it was in that instant when I heard heavy hooves falling in the dry leaves. Ears pinned back, coat bristled, the big eight made his presence known by tearing a small sapling to shreds only 16 yards from my stand. Amazingly I kept my compusure and managed to make an excellent shot putting my montec through both lungs. All heck broke loose as he ran just 80 yards out of site. I waited an hour and a half after hearing him crash before i got out of my tree. It was the one of the best experiences of my life.
