The caliber is very accurate. I have owned two of them, and I still have the Savage HB 112. The WSM head spaces off the shoulder, which theoretically should make the cartridge more accurate than a belted magnum. Also the shorter fatter case should give a more consistent burn rate. The burn rate is what affects the pressure curve, which is what yields less recoil. I am sure someone else can explain this better than I have, I just know that it is true.

It is also worth mentioning: I am in the process of ordering an Encore barrel from Bullberry Barrel works-they refuse to chamber the WSM's. Their comment on their website is that the WSM's are not safe. Their opinion is worth listening to, they list hundreds of caliber's and I am sure they would chamber the WSM's if they did not believe what they are saying. Tom.
