I use mechanicals on most small game, but have used adder points before as well. With any birds, I use old mechanical heads, and to help keep them from snaking under the ground, put an adder point or washer between the head and the shaft.
I've found that broadheads, even the most inexpensive, work better than any other adder type tip, and that is what I would recommend. If you run into something larger, such as a fox or coyote, then you'll be prepared as well.
Good luck!
