Hello all, Im new to hunting, not new to guns. Been shooting handguns and rifles for awhile now. I have some questions that i would like some advice on.
I own a Ruger M77 Mark II in a .300 Win Mag. Has a Leupold VX-II 3-9x50 Scope and a Limbsaver recoil pad. I have also had a trigger job done on it (2.5lbs from 4+) and i had the barrel floated. I will be hunting whitetail here in Alabama with my brother-inlaw. At the moment i have chosen Federal 165gr Nosler Balistic Tip rounds. But i read on here that Balistic Tip are bad on the meat due to seperation. What would be the best round for me to shoot? I started off shooting Rem Express Core-Lokts 150gr, but as wierd as it may sound it seemed i was more acurate and precisewith the Federals. Do i need a heavier load like a 180 or should i be fine with what i have? Bad thing is federal's website dosnt show my ammo anymore, and the only place i can find them besides local shops(for 34$/box) is MidwayUSA (14/box). Any advice would be appreciated.
