I agree with the majority here. But the main concern when taking a shot is to make sure it is a good one, that way they don't feel it very long. A main thing that you need to look at is the adrenaline rush that they will get when hit. I've experienced it myself that if you hurt your self, you won't feel it for a while, kinda, "you'll feel it in the morning" ideas. You smash you finger, cut your self, or things like that, you don't feel it right away. I cut my face pretty decent one time, and didn't know it till someone told me I was bleeding. If you make a good, clean shot, the deer will go down before it feels much pain at all.
