I used to have a scope on my 336 30-30 and I took it off and had buckhorn open sites put back on it. The short barrel length of the gun just made it hard to get a steady shot off with the 30-30. I have missed more dear with that gun being scoped than I have with any other gun. Now with iron sites I am on the board (within 6 inches of the bulls), every time at 100 yards and under.
