tschaef nailed it.. I have a scoped .270 that I use for huntin open fields or open woods, but once I get back in the thick stuff I use an open sighted marlin 30-30. I shot a nice buck last year with it from 70 yards through some brush and it didnt run but 20-30 yards.. good luck
