I have never had one done before. If I were to have one done what do I need to do? I mean from the time I shoot the deer to the time I drop it off at the taxidermist. Thanks.

Make an incision all the way around the deer, several inches behind the front legs,

That's if you only want a neck mount. If you want one of the newer styles today or an ofset or pedestal mount, you really should start skinning all the way back at the buttocks. It's actually easier than starting behind the front legs, gets less hair all over your meat, and it ensures there's enough for the taxi. to work with.
for a regular shoulder mount that is fine. But for pedestals it is different, i know. I need to update that on my page.
