My 'easy' first kill.It was my first season and I was 12, I was so psyched to finally be able to deer hunt. So i am super excited and am out for the evening hunt on opening day. I hear something walking towards me and I turn and look and it is a big doe slowlly getting closer to me. Finally after what seamed like forever she gets to a spot I can shoot. I slowlly aim my rifle and pick a small point on the shoulder and pull the trigger. Click! Im so excited that when she turns around and slowwly walks away i cant figue out what was wrong, so I work the lever and pull the trigger again, Click! And then one more time, Click! So then she starts running and giving me no shot and it dawns on me, The safty was on the whole time. That one was tough to swallow it would be the rest of that season and the next two before i would get another shot at a doe my 4th season. Needless to say I remembered my lesson and took the safty off that time, and everytime since, Knock on wood!
