RE: Range question 50 cal.
CATUS is right. The 240 grain XTP is a fine deer killer. A few years ago I took a shot at a 145 pound buck at 90-100 yards. The load was 130 grains of Pyrodex pellets and a 240 grain XTPbullet. When I got to the area there was a 100 pound doe lying dead. She was behind the buck at an angle and I did not see her. Almost immediately found the dead buck also.
The bullet went through the buck just behind the shoulders. It entered the first rib of the doe and angled back through her guts. The entrance hole in the doe washuge. Six months later my wife found the bullet when she cut up a doe ham for jerky. The lead had separated from the jacket and the two pieces weigh 158 grains. Luckily I was authorized to kill both a buck and a doe.
Tried toattach a photo of the bullet but the file is too big.
