I really didn't want to get into this thread, but somebody mentioned about a spine shot. I have seen a spine shot twice and both did not result in a quick death, only paralysis. Both deer had to be put down with a second shot. The first time was my fault, the deer was going broadside and when I went to pull the trigger the deer dropped down and hit the spine. The second time was a buddy tried a neck shot and hit far back and split the spine. Both deer dropped on the spot, but laid there balling and crying until being finished off. Here's what I think, if you think that taking the head shot/spine shot is the best shot you have, more power to you. I will wait on the heart/lung shot and if not presented, I won't take the shot.
