You make a very good point.If you don't derive some enjoyment out of all aspects of the hunt you are missing out!Depending on how much time someone has for scouting and hunting,just getting in the woods can be enough of a reward in itself.I am a firm believer in that you scout as much and hunt as much as you can given your other responsibilities and you factor that in to the expectations you have for success.
An expression I use a lot when speaking to people about this topic is "that I don't have to kill something to have had enjoyed myself"
