JimPic is absolutely correct!
A Recurve or Longbow is much superior to a Compound in a combat situation.
You can shoot a Recurve/Longbow much faster than any compound.
It's lighter in weight, doesn't have all those accessories to get in your way and much more rugged than the compound.
How is it more rugged, you may ask ?
Slam your compound to the ground or drop it on rocks and see if it still performs.
Do the same with a Longbow and just pick it up and continue to shoot.
It will take being dropped in stride.
What about hunting from horseback ?
The let-off and string creep of a Compound, along with the weight, would make it useless for that purpose.
Sure, you can shoot a Compound instinctively and without sights or gadgets. But not nearly as fast as a Longbow or Recurve.
