Get some sort of boat bumper- that is what we use- and some wings of a duck or goose and fasten them on the bumper- use a starting pistol and throw and shoot. Make sure he stays and doesn't chase it though. Make him see the bumper then when your read let hime get it. Make sure he brings it bakc to your feet. The hard part is getting him to learn to do a blind retrieve. We have a guy who comes to the farm and teaches our dogs this but almost all of our birds land in the visual field-we drop em close so that they can see. but the one's we sell as pups we haven't really finished them up yet. People will bring them back for us to train but we just make sure the hunters get the ones that are fearless.
