Default RE: What does this 9 pt score?

I shot this deer in 1996 in Ill. I was trying for him. He was the boss buck in the area. I posted this because the score is deceiving. He was 5 1/2 years old and grossed 132 even. With deductions, he nets 115 3/8 as a 6 pointer. He has a 16 4/8 inside spread, 23" beams, 10 1/2" g-2s, 5 2/8 bases and 6 4/8 in sticker points. He had 16 5/8 in deductions. He field dressed at 220# with the antlers still touching the floor. His tall, narrow, thick rack was built for fighting and he had the attitude to go with it. All the other bucks gave him a wide berth. I measured his neck just under the jaw bone at 28". My taxidermist had to order a canadian form to fit his measurements. This is why I believe that the gross score is a better indicator of the true size of a buck. You tell people that you got a 115" 9 pt and right away they're thinking 2 1/2 year old instead of something with 138" of horn on his head, weighing over 220#. Photos and net scores can be deceiving!
