RE: 400 yard trophy?
The elk I took in CO a few years ago was a little over 300 yards. I actually used a bolder with my coat on it as a rest. My target was big and I was shooting a .300 win mag. There was no breeze so I felt comfortable and took the shot. It all depends on size of game/ target, wind, rest, comfort level, etc. It may vary by person and change from time to time.
