would agree,if the coyotes are not pressured then i would stick to daylight hunting.if this dosen't work then try night time hunting.coyotes are hard to hunt at night becouse you can't see them circling.they will go to open food plots but under cover till they get down wind.day time hunting inables you to see in the cover better.if your right and no body hunts them.i would set stands in as open an area as possible the first few times.they may not be as spooky at first and will expose themselfs more.after you shoot a few and they become educated you will have to hunt the thicker areas or a little closer to them.hunting them will only harvest a small percentage of the total number of coyotes, they smarten up fast.trapping is the only viable method for controling large numbers of coyotes.if possible shoot the alpha's(the largest ones)first.the juvaniles are much easyer to hunt, there no where near as smart as there parents.like howler said, get a buddy and have the shooter sit down wind of the caller at least 100 yards,if its real open terrain the shooter may have to sit farther away.fix up stand locations ahead of time.your deer stands will work good for the shooter and a rifle and place the caller up wind and on the ground with a shotgun, for those close encounters.do this right the first time, shoot as many as you can in a short period of time.once there educated it becomes very hard to hunt them.
