To answer some questions - he was killed on private land in McHenry County. We're way up in the Northern part of the state between Chicago and Rockford. Finding land to hunt around here is darn near impossible at this point unless you own land, are related to someone who does, or have a lot of money for a lease. Fortunately we know the owner of this land fairly well and he allows us to hunt there. In fact, this is my first year hunting this particular spot, and was my first time in this stand. You can't beat that.
I'm headed up to Northwest Wisconsin this weekend, near Spooner/Hayward, to try and fill my Wisconsin tag on public ground. Wish me luck!
EDIT - No, I didn't get any of it on tape. I was running late and didn't want to deal with having to set the camera up. Of course the one day I don't bring the arm with is the day I shoot a nice buck. Go figure. We got some good post-kill footage that I'll be including in my journal entry today.
