RE: New Hunter wants to know what time to be in stand for evening hunt?
I got in the stand today at 5:00 and shot a doe at 6:30 and that's pretty typical. I'm sure it varies from one area to another, but this time of year I seldom see deer before 6:00 and it's usually later than that. I will usually see does a little earlier than bucks. Some of the spikes and forkhorns may come by a little earlier, but usually the bucks are the last hour of shooting light and more often than not the last 30 minutes. During the rut, it's a different story, though. I think you could be on stand any time of day and possibly be successful.
