Good question, I was thinking the same thing, WHAT IF I was gonna take him. And I came up with the same answer as you did. Grunted at about 10 yards and hope he turns broadside or at least a good enough angle.
I'm glad you passed on a shot. He never offered a good shot in the video clip I saw. He was too close to hit both lungs. A single lunged deer can go a long way and even survive sometimes.
