I haven't hunted wood chucks with a gun now for over 25 yrs
I use a bow for the job,when growing up we used a 22 rim fire and a 410 shot gun.You can get very close to them if you try.If you spot one
and he sees you and drops back down in his hole,work your way 180 degrees behind him about 20 yds,he will come back out most of the time looking in the same direction he saw you then shoot him in the back of the head with a 22 or shot gun,or bow.
If it is a large one throw it away and get a young one for eating,skin it cut up in pieces,boil it for about an hour,or pressure cook it for 30 minutes.then take it out let it dry and roll in flour and fry till brown,some people roll it in corn meal but that makes it taste too sweet to me.Serve with fried potatoes and onions,and green beans.Pretty good dinner.
