I thought for sure I was going to kill a big buck last Sunday. I got to the top of the mountain Saturday night and went to take a picture, my battery was dead and I forgot the spares! Would have been just my luck to shoot a bruiser and have to hike out to get a damn battery so I could get a picture before quartering it up and packing it out. You guys that can pull your trucks or four wheelers up to your game have got it made! I always need to find some gung-ho hiker to go goat hunting in the fall so that 1.) If I fall in a crevasse someone is there that can either haul me out or notify my next of kin and 2.) so that we can get a goat out in less than 3 trips. If the conditions are good two strong packers can do it in one trip. If it's icy, snowing and you're alone it's going to be a Hellish couple of days... No really, c'mon up OHB it's the most fun you can imagine!!!!![8D] Seriously though, bowhunting goats is what I wait all year for. They are just the coolest animal in North America and the country is awe inspiring! Besides, if the weather keeps you out of the mountains, there's always deer and brown bears to hunt... If she left your carcass for the bears I may not shoot the first one that comes in but I promise to shoot the biggest one!
