Default Golden Key Shoot Out Rest

Golden Key Shoot Out Rest:

Construction: Machined Aluminum.

Overview:
I normally am not a big fan of full containment rests. I see where they have some advantages but I also saw where they have one major disadvantage, fletching contact. I believe you should have no fletching contact for optimum arrow flight when using a release and broadheads. I recently got one of these from my local dealer to try out & shoot. At first I was little apprehensive but I ended up setting it up on my Mathews FX. I figured at the least I would end up handing it down to my son for his little bow to help him keep the arrows on the rest.

To make a long story short I started shooting it with an Easton ACC 3-60 and a 125-grain tip. I found that it shot really good and tuned really fast. The only problem I ended up having a slight high tear I could not get rid of. I have experienced this before with the FX due to it not having a perfectly straight nock travel. It wasn’t an issue once I started shooting. The rest worked really good and performed well. I was shocked really, I am a big fan of GKF rests but this one had me doubting a bit…well those doubts are gone. This thing is a winner if you are looking for a containment rest.

Rating system is like this 1 = poor, 10 = best.

Durability: 10 - A nice solid design. Built like a little tank and it would be hard to damage it. .

Quality: 10 - I have never had any problems with Golden Keys rest, as always they have great quality.

Price: 8 – A fair price but it would be nice to see it priced closer to the TM hunters. We can dream can’t we? Don’t get me wrong good rest for the price.

Warranty: 10 - A 100% lifetime limited warranty.

Tune ability: 8 – The rest is easy to tune and setup but it doesn’t match the ease of adjustments that the Golden Premier offers but then again no rest does! Really to be fair it isn’t a hard rest to setup. I just like the micro adjustment of GKF’s other rests and judge all rests against them. This might not be fair on my behalf.

Total Score: 9.2

Final Comment: This is a nice rest, better than most containment rests out there. I wasn’t a big fan of the Whisker Biscuit or the GKF Funnel rests. I often viewed both of them as breaking the golden rule of having fletching contact. Well GKF has fixed that problem with this rest, thank you!

I like the performance of this rest, it shot good, was solid built, didn’t make a lot of noise, and did the job they say it will do which is to allow you to have a containment style rest with no fletching contact. I liked it, I hate to admit it but I did! I think this rest is a real winner for someone looking for a rest to help hold the arrow on the rest when hunting. I also think it would be a great rest for any beginning archer since the arrow will stay on the rest no matter what. If you wanted too you could shot an arrow out of this thing upside down! I’m not joking either!
