I was hunting over in IL yesterday afternoon and got the life scared out of me. I was sitting in my stand about 4:30. The sun was hitting my back, feeling nice and warm. Kinda half dozing off and the biggest cammotion starts going off right behind me. I almost jumped over board. I turned around to see a Red Tailed Hawk chasing a squirel on the ground. He must have dove into the brush after it and made one hell of a crash. Any how the squirel got away, and I was now wide awake. Saw a little button buck later but passed.
While I was over there, I visited my friend the taxidermist, Bob Schnettgoecke, and he was mounting a set of repos from the Chad Goetten Buck. It was killed about 7 miles from where I hunt in "03. Chad is doing one for his father and father in law.I am still amazed at the mass on that buck. Final score was 234 7/8. But 2 typical tines were broken, if they would match the other side, the score would be in the 260's. This is a picture of Chad with his MONSTER.
