RE: .243
A .243 is too weak for some of the bigger deer in the US IMO. I would opt for something a little bigger, maybe a .260 or a 7mm-08. You can't go wrong with either of these. A .243 will put a deer down, but small, lightweight bullets don't penetrate as well as bigger ones. For a .243 I would aim right behind the front shoulder about halfway down, and for anything bigger than a .243 (not including the 6mm) right dead center of the shoulder. Hope this helps!
