There can be advantages, absolutely. Let's say you rip off one vane. Instead of taking it to the shop, just take it to your kitchen. You can control the quality as well. Bare shafts are less expensive than fletched shafts, and after the initial investment you will save some money, but not much. You also won't have to wait for custom fletched arrows at your shop. Just buy the shafts and do it yourself. It really is quite fun and relaxing.
