RE: Mossberg Shotguns
In all the MP units I served in our shotguns were (very old) Remington 870's. These shotguns probably say action in Vietnam, and some of them were not in very good shape. The government 9 times out of ten, buys from the lowest bidder, regardless of the quality of the product. I'm not saying that Mossburg shotguns are bad, but I've never heard much good said about them either. And to mee they just look cheap compared to Rem, Browning, and Winchester. Benelli's are nice shotguns, however.
On a military side note, anyone find it funny that only 1 of our four primary infantry weapons systems are/were originally made in the US. I'm referring to the M16A2 (Colt, USA), the M9 service pistol (Beretta, Italy then USA), and both the M249 SAW and the M240G MMG (FN, Belgium). I wonder if the UN had some say in the matter?!
