RE: grizzly caliber
The 30-06 will work in close range with a 220 grain bullet. If you stretch it out past 150 yards you are asking for trouble. I shot my 8'6" grizzly with a 220 NP out of a 300 win mag at 240 yards. The bullet broke both shoulders but did not exit. It stopped in the fat just inches before the skin. My second shot went through the cavity and stopped just short of the skin. The guide stated that most 30 cal bullets with good expansion will not "Exit" the animal. He actullly prefers this, and so does the taxidermist. He stated that "if a 30-06 is used he prefers to see the 180 grain Nosler Partition" this bullet will give you the knock down power and reach out and touch power.........
