I watched a few videos of bear hunting...One was from alaska and the guy dropped a 700+lb polar bear from about 20 yrds away while hidding behind a boulder with a 222 shot to the spine.dropped him in its track...Then the video of a grizzly hunt,at 350 yrds out with a 30-06 busted through both shoulders of a huge grizzly to anchor it down then he shot it thru the lungs to finish it off...This would be the only way I would hunt them with any cartridge size...Bust his shoulders to stop his motivation and finish him off with another round..The front shoulders are large target area and you pretty much know he won't be able to reach you when you blow them out to get another round off in him to finish him off....I would do this for black bears to if was in a large pressure hunting area where he could run off to another hunter.
