Even though they are marketed as a stabilizer, I think their primary function is as a sound/vibration dampener. My Trykon is pretty well balanced without one, but it reduces what little hand-shock there is and to the ears of a whitetail, I'm sure it reduces noise significantly.
Oh...and they're about $50 less than most top-of-the-line stabilizers!
