Short bullets rarely go as straight as a long bullet once it hits an animial.
Have you ever compared the length of a recovered 140gr tsx to the 175gr partition?I have ,and the partition is not longer by any means. The partition quickly sheds the front core and then carries on with about 60% of its original weight(105gr),while the 140gr tsx retains at least 90% of it's weight(126gr).Therefore the tsx actually has as much or more weight while it penetrates. When you consider the fact that the tsx is solid copper and that copper is not as dense as lead, the remaining tsx is usually longer as well.
Below is a tsx recovered after destroying a large section of elk spine.Notice that all petals are intact.

Below is a link to a report by an African professional hunter that recovered three tsx bullets from cape buffalo.Notice that he was totally satisfied with the performance.Again notice that the petals are intact.

More recovered tsx bullets.Again all petals are intact.Notice the length of the recovered bullet, despite the fact that these were light for caliber bullets.
