The two places you listed are my two favorite spots to hunt. I grew up south of Gillette and love elk hunting above Dubois. We always hunted up the Long Creek Drainage and always did fairly well. It has been dry the last 10 years though and tough to find the elk.

I was deer hunting near east tensleep and had an encounter with one of the largest elk I have ever seen during archery season. Great places.
