Get a 220 swift, it killed an antelope at 900 yards with open sight. If you're an accurate shooter, a 220 will be just right. My great-grandpa used factory loads for that shot, and they should work as good fo you too.
that has to be one of the most irresponsible posts i've seen. no self respecting "hunter" should take that sort of shot.
on the plus side, i suspect ol' great grandpa was jerking everybodies chain.

great-grandfathers descion to try it.
I think a 220 swift isn't near enough firepower to go'lope hunting.
I was only trying to prove that the 220 swift could accurately travel that kind of distance and hit the intended target. My grandpa was a well-grown man when he witnessed my great-grandpa firethat shot, and it sure enough happened.
So don't go calling me "irresponsible", I would never try that shot. Because I strive to be an ethical hunter. Parting thought:
If you call a hunter "irresponsible", you are insulting their efforts to be an ethical hunter, and I find that very offensive. Don't go blaming people for something they didn't do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you are recommending that brutal purchase a swift based on a 900 yard, open sighted kill. that is definitely irresponsible.
imagine the hold over required at that range! and with open sights!? if the swift is 40-plus inches low at 500, what would it be at 900!!!? it would have bugger all ft-lb left, too. it is ridiculous to suggest that such a shot has anything to do with the accuracy of the cartridge, so don't use such an example.
I was telling to brutal that the 220 swift, under extreme circumstances,in the right hands,was able do cleanly dispatch an antelope from 900 yards. As I agreed with you in my last post, it was unethical to attempt a shot like that, but in spite of that, the 220 swift was able to accomplish what the owner,
(which would be my great-grandfather) wanted it to do.
It was pushed to it's limits, and it defied expectations.
Isn't that what an owner would want from their gun?

I've told you how the 220 swift performed and did something incredible, and all I'vereceived fromyou is a pile of criticizm. Let me ask you something....................... HOW RESPONSIBLE IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
