To me Hunting is a very special time were memories are shared and new ones are made every year. The kill is a bonus.
Well then, we are in total agreement!
You may have hit on the real reason I am so selective.
I could pretty well fill my buck tag within a day or two of the bow opener every year. I have passed on literally 10 times or more the number of bucks I have killed, easy. I guess the weekly get together with family during bow season and the trips to camp in rifle season mean more to me than the kill. So it must be a very impressive buck for me to end my hunting for the year. I live in PA...one buck per year only.
Sorry you feel that I am attacking you
Yea, I guess that was a bit of a strong word for me to use.
How am I being hypocritical?
I was referring to the notion that my motives for hunting were somehow disingenuous compared to the "brown and down" crowd. After the reflection you invoked in me, I'm as firm as ever in my beliefs.
Which brings me to my question:
....Is hunting more than a certain kill every year? An animal of any kind, no matter what?
Go a decade without filling a buck tag and come back and see me. I'm betting most "Brown and down" hunters lose interest before then.
