RE: ANNUAL LET 'EM GO AND LET 'EM GROW
I have said this before and I will say it again.....Mostwho claim they are practicing QDM are actually practicing QAM (quality antler management)
If the herd in your area is healthy then they should have no problem with someone shooting a young (1.5 to 3.5yo)buck, yet even in this situation they will preach to you to "let them go so they can grow" Why???
Because all they want is bigger antlered deer so it's easier for them to kill one and say "look at what a great hunter I am"
Even though it's well known that male Whitetail deer can and do start to reproduce and mate as early as 1.5 years old and are very active reproducing as 2.5 to 3.5 years olds.
So having a bunch of 1.5 to 3.5 year old buckswith a good ratio to does residing in yourcounty is a very good sign that the herd in your area is "healthy" Even though there may not be as many 4.5and up year old bucks running around.
Yet even in this situation you will never hear a "so called" QDM proponent say "go on and kill them young bucks"instead they will berate you as a hunter for doing it and hide behind QDMas theirnoble cause. it's all B.S.
If you want to kill only large antlered deer, go right ahead, I suspect there are lots of hunters including myself who would love to have one in there sights, but for Pete's sake stop hiding behind QMD and come clean for what you really want............a better chance to kill a big antlered buck.
Next time try saying "let them go so more can grow and make it easier for me to kill a big antlered deer" That's what you really want and I bet you would get far less greif for saying ittoo.
