Stand Placement? You need to be where the deer are. Are there deer tracks around? Any scat? If so, you may have to follow these and put your stand up a few hundred feet away from where it is now. The deer may not pass your stand until after dark, or before dawn.

Everyone else has covered the basics, you just need to find the deer. I don't know how big of a tract you are hunting but get out a scout it.
