No patch box indicates that it may possibly be a CVA Mountain Rifle. Is the brass dark or shaded-burnt blue?

Since your "signature" at the bottom of your posts shows you are familiar with the Kentucky rifle, then that's the only CVA model left (that I know of). The other (St. Louis Hawkens) came with brass & patch box.

The Mountain Rifle of that era was 1-66" twist. Best way to find the right answer is emailing CVA at

[email protected]

Be sure to include the serial numbers in that email. Allow 7-10 days for an answer. I recently inquired about getting a Mountain Rifle barrel for a friend with a perfect stock assembly. It took about 8 days for a "No Remaining Barrels" answer.

Needless to say... he was disappointed.
