RE: Property owner sued for Hunter's actions
Hopefully this cae will be struck down on appeal. Apparently, the landowners attorneydidnt even mention Pennsylvania's Recreational Use of Land and Water Act, a law enacted in 1966 specifically to shield private landowners from liability as a way to encourage them to open their properties for public recreation. Courts have ruled the law's protection also applies to government bodies that own land open to public recreation. This law has withstood other challenges in court.I would think that the when landowner gets a competent lawyer and appeals, this problem will go away. Otherwise, it's not just hunting thats at risk here.
